France's Starck designs garden-friendly wind turbine

Italian energy component maker Pramac announced on Wednesday the launch of a mini-wind turbine called "Revolutionair" designed by Frenchman Philippe Starck. The turbine, intended to be installed in people's gardens, comes in two models, rectangular and whisk-shaped. The rectangular turbine, which measures 90 centimeters (three feet) without its support stand, will produce 400 watts and will have a price-tag of at least 2,500 euros (3,500 dollars) in Italy. China is set to become the world's third largest wind power producer in 2009, state media reported, as the Asian giant seeks various ways to expand energy supply to power its economic boom.
