Britain opens world's largest offshore wind farm
London (AFP) Sept 23, 2010
Britain on Thursday inaugurated the world's largest offshore wind farm, part of the government's bid to reduce the carbon emissions that drive climate change. The project got a qualified welcome from environmental campaigners. The site, a forest of giant turbines in the North Sea off the southeastern English coast, has 100 turbines so far. A Chinese wind turbine-maker confirmed Monday that it has axed a 1.2 billion-US-dollar share sale in Hong Kong due to "excessive market volatility", the latest in a series of ditched listings.
