Controllable Rubber Trailing Edge Flaps For Wind Turbine Blades
Riso, Denmark (SPX) Feb 23, 2010For some years, the Wind Energy Division at Riso DTU has been working to develop a method for controlling the loads on large wind turbine blades using a flexible trailing edge made of an elastic material which can be controlled by means of compressed air or hydraulics. Now, the invention, which has been called CRTEF (Controllable Rubber Trailing Edge Flap), has been tested in a wind tunnel with ... more China's wind power sector faces challenges
Beijing (UPI) Feb 22, 2009 Amid steep competition and lower profit margins, some industry insiders say China's wind turbine sector grew at the expense of quality. In 2004, there were six wind turbine manufacturers in China. By 2009 that number increased to more than 70 companies. During the same period, China's wind power capacity increased from 760 megawatts to 20,000 megawatts. Now the country is the world's th ... more Norway plans the world's most powerful wind turbine
Oslo (AFP) Feb 12, 2010Norway plans to build the world's most powerful wind turbine, hoping the new technology will increase the profitability of costly offhsore wind farms, partners behind the project said Friday. With a rotor diametre of 145 metres (475 feet), the 10-megawatt protype will be roughly three times more powerful than ordinary wind turbines currently in place, Enova, a public agency owned by Norway's ... more |
